Hey everyone! So I’ve been terrible about keeping up with the monthly empties posts. I don’t know if it’s just that the months go too fast or there are just too many that build up. If you follow my blog, you can tell I do empties posts pretty religiously. I’m doing a lot of phasing out of older products (that are still usable of course) from my stash or just getting rid of products, period. This is a combined empties post for September and October so I can actually catch up. I might make empties a bi-monthly thing from now on since I fall behind way too often. So here they are:
Hey all! I was tagged by two awesome ladies to participate in the Blogger Recognition Award! Thanks so much SingleVegasGirl and Melina! I try to do tag posts when I get the opportunity – I love learning about other bloggers and hope readers get to learn a little bit more about me too. First, the rules (some which I break lol):
Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
Write a post to show your award.
Give a brief story of how your blog started.
Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
Select 15 other bloggers for this award
Comment on each blog to let them know you nominated them and link to the post you created.
Hey there! Well it’s been a while since my last blog post (a busted laptop and life will do that) but I’ve replaced my laptop and am ready to get back into it with a renewed enthusiasm! I have a lot to catch up on.
One thing I’ve been wanting to share with you is my latest skincare routine. I’ve been sticking to my newer routine pretty regularly for about a month and using the same products consistently. It’s a tad simpler and more streamlined than it had been (if you can believe it lol), but time will tell if it’s truly meant to be. My skin type is oily and prone to hormonal breakouts, so I use products that will (hopefully) control that situation. As a side note, another skincare goal is to possibly downsize my products, in particular my cleansers and makeup removers. I like everything I have but I don’t know if they’re all necessary to have at the same time, but it’s also nice to have options. The struggle, as they say, is real.
Happy fall! As usual these months are just rolling by and I’m definitely late on these by a month. I’m always excited to finish products and get them out of the way, but sometimes they just aren’t that exciting to write about especially when most are super old items, discontinued, or just kinda blah where I neither loved or hated them. I do like to look back on what I’ve used to remember what I had and what I thought, but it’s just amazing how unexcited I’ve been about too many empties lately. Either way I’m always happy to phase out older or meh products from my stash since I want to enjoy using what I have, not roll my eyes at stuff and wish them away. Anyway. I’ve used up three makeup products in August (those always feel like more of an accomplishment than body wash or shampoo) but read on to see what else I used up!
I haven’t purchased nail polish in forever-instead I’ve been focusing on decluttering my nail stash on and off over the past year and just using what I have. I really hadn’t felt the need for more but I’ve been seeing certain shades in passing that I really liked, or wanted but didn’t have. So during the end-of-summer season I purchased four different shades that will hopefully be it for a long time since I’m trying to keep my collection somewhat manageable (which is kinda laughable since I have so many containers of it!). I had an itch to expand my foundation collection recently. It’s been a while since I’ve had more mid/high-end foundation (I’ve been so satisfied with L’Oreal Infallible), but felt it was time to branch out again. Last year I tried some foundation samples that were nice, just not quite what I was looking for so I put my search on pause.
I’m no stranger to a hormonal breakout, but my skin was on a whole other level this summer. In June, one side of my forehead started breaking out like crazy which hasn’t happened in a really long time, and then my chin took a turn for the worst. It was getting a little ridiculous. Was it my pillowcase? Change of seasons? I’ve tried different topical treatments over the years, but I felt like those were more of a temporary fix. There had to be a better solution.
I was recently tagged twice to do the Mystery Blogger Award a little while ago by my blogger pals Melina at IvefoundWaldo and AlexandraQuinlan, two very dedicated bloggers I am lucky to know- thanks for the tag girls! Since starting my blog last year, getting to know these two and so many others has been one of the coolest parts of being a blogger! They totally get the blogging life and live it to the fullest. I’d also like to mention the creator of the award, Okoto Enigma.

I’m beyond late with my July empties but August has been that kind of month. You’d think having been off would mean more blogging, but for me but sometimes “off” means doing everything but blogging! It just hasn’t been on the top of my list. Work also started back up this past week, so getting back to meetings and changes in schedule meant the blog really took a back seat! So anyway, I’m finally ready to report the yays and nays of my July empties!
Hey Friends! Today I’ll be sharing with you my lip product organization and recent lip declutter (you can read about my other lip declutter here). This post has been a long time coming, but I just wanted it to be as updated as possible. For me the cycle of decluttering and acquiring never really ends, it just takes breaks. I don’t think I’ll be doing either for a while (at least with lip products) so I figured now would be a great time to share! Continue reading “Lip Product Organization/Declutter Summer 2017”
