So now that July is over and Back-to-School FUN is on the horizon (I may or may not mean that sarcastically!), I’m sharing the beauty products I’ve gotten around to finishing this past month along with reviews on each and whether or not I plan on repurchasing! Only four (which is a lot for me to use up in one month!), but here they are: Continue reading “July 2016 Empties!”
If you’re a makeup junkie makeup/beauty product enthusiast, I’m sure you can relate-my history and love of makeup has led to a pretty big stash. I’ve loved, hated, kept, tossed (though more keeping than tossing) and repeated this cycle quite frequently. Then one day a few years back I had a Forrest Gump moment. Remember that part in the movie when he was running and running with the crowd behind him, and then one day declared he was tired and just stopped? That was me a few years ago. The urgency of buying similar items in bulk had come to a sudden halt. I took a big pause and slowed down the hauls. Not that I’ll ever stop completely, but I’ve become much pickier over time with what I’ll buy and keep. Continue reading “Makeup Declutter Part 1: Lip Products!”
I used to consider myself a fall girl but have since appreciated all that comes with the warmer seasons. I am a teacher, so I welcome summers and getting a break from the normal teaching routine. There’s something about brighter days, the shore, and lack of wool and layers that makes summer special. Cannot deny that! Here are some products I commonly use (or have started to use) this summer!
I’m not necessarily pale nor do I burn easily, but I like to lower my cancer risks, premature wrinkles, and sun spots when I can. Is it annoying to apply sunscreen? For me, yes. And I absolutely get lazy or forget to put it on especially if I’m in a rush and trying to get out the door. I am not perfect about sun protection each time I step out, but I try when I can. Brushes are SO so important when it comes to getting the best use out of your makeup products and make a huge difference in how they apply, blend, and look.
I recommend having eye brushes for 1) all-over shading, 2) crease, 3) eyeliner and 4) pencil brush for liner (smoking it out). Some brushes can be used for more than one thing. I love that, especially when I’m lazy and don’t feel like thinking too much. For example, I usually use shading/packing-shadow brushes to highlight under my brow bone, or turn a brush on its side to do my darker crease color.
In today’s post, I will share with you my must-have eye brushes (and what they’re for). I have had some of these for so long, so it proves how well made they are. Others I have gotten more recently but I can tell will last quite a while. If I’m still happy to use them after all these years, that must say a lot, right?! There are so many great brands of eyeshadow brushes out there- these are just the ones I’ve been using the most: Continue reading “My 6 Most Needed Eye Brushes “
Welcome to my first blog post! Themakeup collection– always a fave topic of mine. Don’t care how big or small – whether just a Chapstick or a grandstand. I find all types of collections fun and interesting. If I can talk about makeup with you on any level, I’m thrilled and you have a friend in me!
I know I’m not alone in this (or maybe I am?), but I tend to get a little deep, sometimes proud, sometimes confused- looking at the stacks of makeup containers on my dresser and repurposed jars filled with brushes. How did this happen and when did it all start?! Perhaps my back story will encourage you to stop and look at where you are with your makeup. And why do that?! Because it’s fun! And it’s history! And we’re just that into ourselves ::inserts oversmiling excitable emoji::. Now let’s board the time machine…. Continue reading “Then and Now: My Love Affair with Makeup”
