I haven’t purchased nail polish in forever-instead I’ve been focusing on decluttering my nail stash on and off over the past year and just using what I have. I really hadn’t felt the need for more but I’ve been seeing certain shades in passing that I really liked, or wanted but didn’t have. So during the end-of-summer season I purchased four different shades that will hopefully be it for a long time since I’m trying to keep my collection somewhat manageable (which is kinda laughable since I have so many containers of it!). I purchased all of these at CVS. The Essie nail polishes are 9.00 each, and Wet n Wild around 5.00 for their gel line. I didn’t pay full price for most since I had extra bucks-I’m not really into paying full price for pricier polish anymore if I can help it, so if I can get a deal obviously I’ll take it!
This first is Wet n Wild Peach for the Stars. I really wanted a light pale peach shade but the ones I had were either too dark, too coral, too bright for what I was in the mood for, but this one fit the bill! I was very impressed with the formula, which went on smoothly and lasted on my nails for days (I used a top coat). I highly recommend this nail polish if you’re looking for something less expensive but still goes on very well and lasts. Though it says 1-step, I did use a top coat since I wanted more shine. I’d probably wear this more in the warmer seasons but you could probably pull it off all year since it isn’t super bright.
I’ve been into neutral shades and wanted a lighter greige. I went for this newer Fall 2017 cream Essie nail polish in Wild Nude. The formula goes on pretty much like all Essie nail polish for me- smooth, usually two coats. I wasn’t sure about this one at first. It’s certainly a neutral, but it wasn’t exaaaactly the greige I was aiming for. This one pulls a little more brown and looked a little blah with my skin tone. Not bad, just not hitting the mark. I was on the verge of exchanging if for something else but may keep it. Though on my skin tone it’s nothing remarkable, I could see myself using it again since it is neutral and don’t have anything like it.
For this photo I was indoors and had artificial light, but the general idea is there:
Essie All-Access Pass is from their Neon 2015 collection. This is a unique blue shade that caught my eye. This color isn’t just a cobalt- it has a tinge of purple and really stands out-these pics don’t do it justice! Though bright, it’s not too florescent for my taste. It’s modern and trendy without looking crazy. Reviews I’ve read said that this was a nightmare to apply, but I really didn’t think so. I used a base coat, but I think with this particular formula/shade there’s a certain way to work with it- more of like a dabbing with quick strokes and spreading around which didn’t bother me in the least. Then again, since toenails aren’t quite as long as fingernails that could be why it was much easier. On my toes most of it stayed on pretty well for two weeks. I haven’t used it on my hands so I can’t speak on that, but for my toes no complaints!
Last but not least- this was more of the shade I was hoping for when I purchased Wild Nude above. This shade is Essie Ladylike and I love it. This one pulls more mauve but is still in the greige/neutral family. I think the mauve really makes it look elegant, so Ladylike really is the perfect name for it! It’s a such a soft, feminine color for any occasion! It’s really beautiful.
So those are my most recent nail polish purchases! Two brighter shades and two neutrals.
Have you tried these before? What nail polishes are you loving right now?
