I had an itch to expand my foundation collection recently. It’s been a while since I’ve had more mid/high-end foundation (I’ve been so satisfied with L’Oreal Infallible), but felt it was time to branch out again. Last year I tried some foundation samples that were nice, just not quite what I was looking for so I put my search on pause.
I heard about the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer not too long ago and it sounded like something I’d like. Fuller coverage without looking masky and wasn’t super matte or drying. I found that with post-acne scars, my skin needed that extra coverage for spots in the process of fading. Since I had been dabbing on much more concealer lately, it felt like I was pretty much applying another layer of foundation so may as well get a product that does both. While I haven’t really loved some Clinique foundations I’ve tried in the past, I do trust that Clinique doesn’t clog my pores and was worth trying since I like the brand overall. I got mine from Ulta- $28.00 originally but was able to use their 20% off prestige coupon too, so that was great!
My T-zone gets oily and certain foundations tend to break down on me, so I end up with a shiny face in desperate need of blotting or powder after a few hours. So here’s the thing with this Clinique foundation- though a little bit of shine will peek through and I may have to blot a little mid-day, there is a difference between this and other foundations I’ve tried. This particular foundation does not break down on me the way others have and it stays on, even if there is a little shine. So it ends up looking natural and the coverage is maintained.
It doesn’t dry too quickly when applying. It stays moist enough to spread around, but not too liquidy where it needs time to set. So as an oily gal, I knew it had potential to stay put.
It has a large doe foot which I really like. It makes it ideal for spot concealing or just dotting the foundation around your face without having to use your fingers. So foundation I don’t need to pour out or touch is awesome!
Their newer Sesame shade really is perfect on me, and other newer shades have been added as well which is great. I think even if you don’t have oily skin, you’d really like this since I don’t find it to be terribly drying and feels so comfortable. Though it wears well on my oily T-zone, I believe this can be worn on different skin types or at least isn’t necessarily made specifically for oily skin.
If you need decent coverage and a natural looking foundation that for the most part stays in place, this may be the foundation for you! It isn’t cakey and is long-lasting. I can definitely see myself getting this again because I really do love it. It’s not astronomically expensive either in my opinion, at least compared to other foundations that cost an arm and a leg. So while it’s not quite drugstore price range either, I think for the quality and amount you get it’s very reasonable. Clinique overall I find to be more affordable department store makeup if you’re looking to upgrade without having to refinance your home lol.
So that is my quick-ish review of this foundation. When I really love or hate something I always have to let you all know! This one is a winner!
Have you tried the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer before? What did you Think?
