I’ve had my eye on the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara (9.99 at Ulta) for a little bit since it was getting so much hype, but in addition to that L’Oreal is hands down one of my favorite mascara brands. I am in love with their Telescopic and Voluminous mascaras, so when I heard about Lash Paradise, well you know that was going to make it into my stash at some point! This review is based on having tried it a handful of times since I pretty much just bought it last week. Naturally I found myself comparing this mascara to the other L’Oreal ones I have. I got mine in the shade blackest black which is my usual mascara shade preference.
So let’s get into the claims. According to the box, you should expect intense volume and lengthening, and a recent TV commercial also suggested feathery results. Many also say it’s comparable to the Too-Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (maybe even better) but I’ve never tried the Better Than Sex mascara so can’t say a ton about that! There are the obvious similarities such as the metallic light pink tube and the brush which indents at the center.
The Brush: When I first pulled it out, I noticed it had the L’oreal Voluminous brush look to it, just with the slight indent in the center.
Formula: Definitely not a wet, clumpy formula so less chance for smudging. Dries quickly.
How it Applied: Very easy application. No clumping at all, went on really smoothly! I did need to apply more than one coat to really see the results.
Results: I can definitely agree with the feathery claims, and I do see lengthening going on. Lashes are separated. Unlike their regular Voluminous mascara however, this doesn’t thicken quite as much, so you won’t get the dense chunky lash. But people might actually like that! So yes to lengthening and feathering! As for thickening? Definitely there, but not to the extent of others I have.
Bottom Line: Based on having used this for a few days now, I’d say it’s a pretty decent mascara! To be honest, I was slightly underwhelmed initially, but keep in mind that I was comparing this to their Voluminous mascara which is a bit more wet and thickening, aka makes your lashes look a lot denser. To me it’s not a one-coat wonder mascara but that doesn’t bother me because I usually apply more than one coat anyway. So I’d consider this a “Voluminous Lite.” If you really aren’t into the thick, wet mascara look, this is perfect. I can see why others love this and I do enjoy it. You won’t get clumps and will get the nice lengthening and feathering action, but I found using an eyelash curler helped to get the full effect with this one (but I guess you could say that for any mascara)! I wouldn’t say these made my lashes quite as bold or dramatic as their other two by L’Oreal, but I like the brush, and how it applies, and it’s great for every day. I’d consider repurchasing but can’t say if it’s a staple quite yet, I’d have to keep using it. But if you want long, feathery lashes, this is awesome.
Have you tried the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise yet? What do you look for in a mascara?
