Greetings Beauts! Hope you are doing well! Love it or hate it, (I personally love it), Valentine’s Day is around the corner so I felt a little compelled to review this kinda lip color for the occasion! Normally I think of pink or red lips for Valentine’s day, but purple-y colors may also be up your alley. If you’re a little scared of purple, don’t be. You may find this one to be wearable.
I’ve purchased a few thing from E.L.F. recently. I reviewed some of their matte lip color lipsticks here, and today I’ll be reviewing the E.L.F. Moisturizing Lipstick, $3.00, in the shade Wine Tour. E.L.F. is such an affordable brand that has some good quality products-always nice to find cheap thrills like that! So here goes my thoughts on this lipstick!
First, have a read at their description on the packaging:
The Color: Wine tour is definitely on the purple side, like a dark fuchsia. Nothing about it is red to me but I guess the color of wine isn’t really a true red in some aspects. This is definitely darker than their matte lipstick by a similar name, “Wine.”
In these pictures I’m wearing Wine Tour in indirect natural light, indoors then in my car:
I also did some swatches on my arm and on a piece of stark white paper. No one’s skin is as white as paper but it gives you an idea of the exact shade:
How it applied: It doesn’t really “glide” on in the strictest sense of the word, but it applied smoothly. I used a lip brush around the outline of my lips for more precision. I feel like with colors this dark and pigmented, a lip brush/pencil is helpful for getting that precise line.
How it feels: Comfortable. Not sure if I’d use the word “moisturizing” alone-maybe moisturizing for pretty much a matte lipstick. I do feel that “locking in” of moisture they talked about on the packaging, but don’t be surprised at the lack of creamy texture or shine.
How it wears: It’s definitely pigmented and these kinds of shades do leave some sort of stain behind. But in terms of evenness, you will have to reapply after a few hours as it can settle a little into lines a little. It doesn’t look awful, but if you look closely you will notice. Not a ton of transfer either since it isn’t a super creamy formula.
Overall thoughts: It’s a nice lipstick. Because it’s called a moisturizing lipstick, I was expecting it to be creamier or have some shine as described on the box. Maybe when first applied there was a little bit of creaminess, but that goes away. I still like it and will use it, but I wasn’t expecting it to look as matte as it did.
Would I Re-purchase? Yes. I actually have this lipstick in Ravishing Rose as well (love that shade) and it’s not bad! I think for the price, this is a nice lipstick that comes in a range of colors. I would get these again but with the expectation that it isn’t a super creamy or shiny kind of lipstick.
Have you tried E.L.F.’s Moisturizing lipstick yet? What were your thoughts?
