Hola, Beauts! So this winter I’ve been interested in trying out charcoal or mud masks. I read amazing reviews on a BareMinerals mask called Dirty Detox but apparently it’s sold out and isn’t coming back in stock for a while! WHAT!
So after that disappointing information was confirmed at their boutique, a saleslady showed me this other product I might like called Clay Chameleon, $22. This isn’t sold as a mask but as a cleanser and can be used for all skin types. Since we actually had similar skin types (oily), she had my attention. This product normally retails at $22.00 for 4.2 oz at their boutique which I found to be reasonable, and even more so with a promo they had going on at the time. I ended up spending $18.00. Now let’s get into the review!
According to the packaging, it’s an “exotic blend of brazilian red clay, papaya and bamboo extracts plus mineral-rich sea salts.” You can read a more thorough description and ingredient list here on the box:
The directions say to apply to a dry face, dampen fingertips and gently massage until clay cleanser transforms into a white cream (hence the “chameleon” name which I didn’t quite get at first lol), then to rinse well. The packaging is pretty standard-a clean white, hygienic tube.
First Impression: Much smoother than I expected it to be! When I hear the word clay, I think of something that’s a little dry or has more of a texture, but this was really smooth and easy to apply. Smells nice, slight lemon/fruity scent but not overpowering. Definitely felt thicker than a regular face wash but really easy to rub in and rinse off.
How I used it: Once in the shower, and also at the sink which I felt was the better way to do it. I’ll probably use it that way from now on if I can. It’s important to use it on a dry face and dampen your fingers just as they said in order to get the intended effect.
Results: When used as directed, it made my face feel really clean and soft afterwards. I felt pampered using this product. Even if you have dry skin, I think it would be fine since it didn’t make my skin feel tight or dry at all. When I have those weeks where I don’t get to do a mask or just don’t think to, this is nice cleanser to give you that type of feeling. The sales lady told me she uses it as a mask as well, but I like my masks a little more heavy-duty so it didn’t quite have the texture I wanted for that.
Would I Get Clay Chameleon Again? Yes. I’d say it’s a nice addition to your regimen when you need a little extra. It’s such a nice product that I enjoy using and different than anything else I have in my skincare routine. Anything that makes my skin feel soft and is convenient to use is a plus. And compared to other higher-end products, it’s definitely affordable!
Other thoughts on BareEscentuals Products: I joined their Fab Friends and Benefits club, so if you really like their makeup and skincare or even want to try their stuff out, might as well join! It’s free and comes with some cool perks. I signed up in the store, but I see that you can sign up online too.
I have always liked the BareEscentuals brand and their whole concept of using minerals in their products. I’ve used their makeup in the past but fell out of buying from them for a while due to just trying other brands and changes in preference, though most of what I’ve used by them were pretty decent quality. Having tried this product and seeing how much they’ve expanded since then, I’m definitely interested in rediscovering what they have out now-especially their skin care!
Have you tried Clay Chameleon? What BareEscentuals products do you enjoy using or are interested in trying?
