Greetings Beauts! Here we are again with another edition of PRODUCT EMPTIES! These are all products I used up in November and December.
My obvious patterns continue: I use up body/skin care products the most, simply because I use them day in and day out (I fly through lotion!), and least frequently, hair and makeup products- unless it’s an anchor product in my stash that I use daily/frequently. I’ll be damned the day I actually finish an eyeshadow or blush! I couldn’t tell you the last time I ever used one up of those lol. So moving on:
Body care empties: I’ve done reviews on Bath and Body works products here and here and it’ll pretty much be the same idea each time I use them! I started using these particular products last year but put them away or cycled them out when the seasons changed, which I usually do with certain products. I loved all of these and they were perfect for fall. The Cup of Warmth body scrub was a really nice product for the fact that it smelled good and gave me an excuse to stay in the shower a little longer lol. I have no idea if they still sell the last four scents. I didn’t see them the last few times I’ve been in the store, but I’d recommend all of them along with the classic Winter Candy Apple.
Skincare empties: this time around was pretty well rounded-one face scrub/cleanser, a moisturizer, toner, and makeup remover. I’ll go through them in the order they’re pictured:
The Clean and Clear scrub wasn’t bad, but not sure if I’d get it again. The little beads didn’t really do much for me and I don’t think it made a huge difference in my skin. I tend to have issues with clogged pores and need that extra something, but something else may be more effective.
The CVS acne-fighting moisturizer wasn’t bad either, but again not really sure if it was a total game-changing product. I didn’t use this every day, but usually at night if my skin was acting up or I felt it was needed. I’m trying to decide if I like using salicylic acne products or if I should steer clear. I haven’t had any terrible experiences with it, but not sure if it’s doing enough to be worth it. The last thing I want to do is aggravate my skin but I also need something strong enough to actually work.
The Facial Radiance Pads by First Aid Beauty, $30, would be great for trouble-free, normal or sensitive skin. It “exfoliates, tones, and brightens” according to the package, and I found them to be pretty gentle. They didn’t make me break out and no harsh smells, so those were pluses. If you like that extra step after cleansing, I’d recommend these. If you’re looking for a more dramatic change or if you have skin that needs more intense care, I’d skip over it. I won’t be re-purchasing these anytime soon, but I wouldn’t rule them out. I’m pretty sure there are similar products that are much less expensive.
CVS has a skincare line called Beauty 360, and I picked up these Nighttime Makeup Remover Towelettes since I do have lazy nights. I hear different opinions on wipes being bad for your skin-no idea if that’s true or not, but I do know that when I’m feeling lazy, something is better than nothing! The scent on these were a little strong so I’d probably get unscented or milder ones next time. I have another pack of these which I’ll continue to finish.
Makeup Empties: Another Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser finished- my ride or die undereye concealer! I reviewed this product here so go have a read if you want to know more!
And that Physician’s Formula Flatliner– I don’t even want to tell you how long I’ve had that for, just know it’s been forever and they no longer make it lol. But I will say I really enjoyed using it and never gave me any problems, even after having it for so long! It had a unique flat, rectangular tip that could make your eyeliner go on thick or thin and it was creamy and so easy to use. I’d probably repurchase if they actually still made it. This one was brown but I also have a black one that’s still going strong!
Hair Product Empties: Now onto my final empty for this post- Got2b Defiant Shine Pomade. This is one of my staple hair products that I will continue to repurchase. This gives my hair some texture and just a little can go a long way. Smooths and tames those annoying flyaways and adds a tad bit of polish to dull hair. Plus it’s cheap! I used to use products like Redken’s Water Wax or Abba Pomade years ago but this pretty much does the same exact thing so I have no reason to stray from it!
Hope you enjoyed this long overdue version of November/December 2016 empties! Have you ever tried any of these? Thoughts?
